Mickey and Laura both attended Ballston Spa High School, though Mickey was two grades ahead of her. They knew of each other, but their paths never really crossed beyond the occasional passing glance in the hallway.
Years later, everything changed with one simple Snapchat.
When Mickey sent Laura a Snapchat out of the blue, she didnt exactly rush to respond. In fact, she left him waiting for about a week. Eventually, she decided to snap him back, not thinking much of it at the time. Little did she know that one small reply would lead to the greatest love story of her life.
At the time, Mickey was on a road trip with his friends and was supposed to be making his way to the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately, the trip hit an unexpected detour when one of his buddies somehow managed to put the wrong gas in the car. Rather than focus on the stranded vehicle, Mickey saw an opportunity. In what he still claims was a perfectly reasonable request, he asked Laura for her phone number so she could come save them.
Never mind the fact that she was sitting in her high school cafeteria during her senior year lunch period and was absolutely no help to a broken-down car hundreds of miles away.
Thankfully, Laura gave him her number anyway.
What followed were countless conversations, unforgettable dates, and a relationship built on laughter, friendship, and love. About a month later, Mickey decided it was time to make things official. In true Mickey fashion, his approach was simple.
So, do you want to make it official?
Without hesitation, Laura said yes.
Over the next nine years, they built a beautiful life together filled with adventures, memories, and their beloved dog, Clifford, who quickly became the third member of the team. Through every milestone, they continued choosing each other day after day.
Then, standing at the top of Pinnacle Mountain with Clifford by their side, Mickey got down on one knee and asked Laura the very same question he had asked all those years before:
So, do you want to make it official?
And just like the first time, Laura said yes.
The only difference was that this time, there was a ring involved... and thankfully, no one needed a rescue because of the wrong gas in the car.
Although Clifford is reportedly still waiting to find out when he gets his ring.
